GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) -- Some Metro-East churchgoers are putting pressure on an Illinois Congressman to vote "no" when a health care reform bill comes up for a vote in the House.
Daniel Michael of Highland and a group of ten others held a demonstration outside Democrat Jerry Costello's office in Granite City, Friday, "We want to let Congressman Costello know we're concerned Christians and we hope he's against the health care reform bill. We can't have taxpayer-funded abortions."
Michael's wife, Angela, says abortion has no place in a health care reform bill, "They'd be reaching in our wallets to pay for it. That's wrong."
Congressman Costello hasn't said how he'll vote on the bill when it comes up.
His party leaders have now backed off on calling for a Saturday vote.
