Pray To End 40 Days for Lies & Prolife “Cash-Cows” Organizations

I heard the statement recently “either help these pregnant women or shut your doors”! Our 30 yrs. Ministry couldn’t agree more. This is really what got our ministry started in that dank alley adjacent to the former Hope Clinic wooden building est.1974-1999. Plain and simple there was NO on-the-spot help or even a center open to take walk-ins to help pregnant women in Granite City. Even though a notorious pregnancy cash cow “Mosaic Health” formerly New Beginnings, sat on the edge of Granite City limits.

Many, many times we requested help or ultrasounds in order to save scheduled abortions but we were denied access or entry with various excuses. This got tiring. We lost a lot of babies. A very close friend of mine and former radio station manager told me, “Don’t lose your focus, don’t get frustrated, let’s equip you." Praise God as He did! Small Victories was birthed, including a prime-time radio program for 7 yrs. Now 30 years later, and multiple minivans, conversion vans, and used recreational vehicles, by the grace of God we have saved approximately 6,710 babies from abortion and 52 babies have been adopted through our ministry https://www.smallvictoriesus.com Our family and a few volunteers have stood on those sidewalks and fought the enemy. We were drug through the mud and the courts; we lost family, friends, jobs, and income.

We were literally kicked out of our home church due to our pro-life stance and ministry. John 15:19-20 Throughout the persecution, we didn’t run and hide. When they left messages, “they were coming for us and going to rape our daughters,” and worse messages, we prayed and we plowed. We took up our crosses and tore up the sidewalks and the battlefield. We didn’t back down. We didn’t keep silent. We ran into our fear and did what God commanded us to do. Proverbs 24:11-12 Rescue that perishing. Attend to the widow and the orphan. Help the fatherless. These were our marching orders. This wasn’t easy, but this was exactly why no one else was doing it.  In 30 years God STILL keeps this passion in our hearts today. 

The joy we feel; the resolve and the love the moms and babies give back is worth all the anguish we go through. The one detriment to our mission and labors has always been the self-serving “cash cows” located in the Metro-east. It's one thing to be persecuted by the enemy, but the most severe attacks were, and are, from the “brethren." They developed anti-Small Victories slanderous and defaming websites and blogs, accusing us of everything under the sun that was detrimental; being frauds, stealing money, etc. When the enemy couldn't control or manipulate us, they shamed us.   

The focus was to get our ministry off the streets and defunded. They didn’t want to do the work, but they didn’t want us in the pro-life room either. Our successes were making them look bad. And most, if not all Metro East pregnancy or pro-life organizations didn’t want to share any of the pro-life “money pie” or any spotlight with us. They slandered us behind their private computers anonymously. We were considered “difficult," “too controversial," and "extremists."

They held secret meetings to discuss how to get rid of Small Victories and take our ministry. They stole our baby bottles (a fundraising tool) from churches during our campaign funding. It got to the point we were spending more money to replace them than what we were taking in. Finally, we just put it in God’s hands. But we continued to carry on with our mission and to tell the truth. Almost twenty years later, things have not changed.

I tell you this because the lies don’t stop, they just tell them differently. In our 30 yrs. of ministry we have never dealt with so much deceit and racketeering in the pro-life movement as we do today. Most, if not all organizations have turned into “financial businesses." Look at the salaries the CEOs pay themselves for doing nothing but appearances or promotional videos. Prolife, especially in Catholic Churches, has deep pockets. In particular the 40 Days for Life (Lies) organization. 

https://www.40daysforlife.com/en It branches into other smaller organizations here in the Metro East such as Luncheon for Life (Lies) and most pregnancy centers to make donors think they are doing something to save lives and constantly beg people to donate to their charity. I mean radio ads; every week another flier, another email, etc. When in reality they all do very little to save lives or help pregnant women. Matter of fact, they state that women have to “meet their criteria” to receive any help or ultrasound.

Or these organizations play the “shell game” with pregnant women seeking help.  They pay college-age people or have older retired volunteers to stand outside abortion facilities dressed like crossing guards to stop cars and throw multiple phone numbers at them for help. Have you tried these numbers? We have, all they do is decline or defer or demand pregnant girls complete classes before they receive any help or minimal basic supplies. They have to show a driver's license and share private information and fill out a pile of forms, produce a positive pregnancy test before they do an ultrasound.

I ask you, what abortion-minded woman is going to go through all that? They don’t. We encounter them outside both area abortion mills. They angrily tell us the horror stories of these “fake clinics." It's hard to gain any woman’s trust when they have been put through these shenanigans. Ask these organizations for help with housing; it’s a joke here in Illinois. It’s so bad, our large family has had to take pregnant girls in, just to give them some shelter and brief relief. Do you know what all this is called? A racket. The Profile movement is all about the spotlight, money, and being a social club.

They are not there to get their hands dirty; you never find any dirt under their perfectly manicured nails. Last year we saved a Mexican national who spoke no English. We had just left Granite City and were at the Planned Parenthood in Fairview Heights as we are every Saturday. A group of well-doers brought this pregnant girl to me as no pregnancy centers are open in the Metro East on weekends. With an interpreter on the phone, we scanned and talked “Angelique” out of her scheduled abortion.

Praise God! We also had two seminarians who prayed over her and blessed her unborn baby. Now, our ministry offered to follow up and prenatal set up, etc., but the well-doers said they would take care of her. Guess what? When the care got hard with this Edwardsville IL. pregnant girl, they all dropped her, and they “washed their hands” of her. Guess who followed up with Angelique? That’s right, Small Victories. So here we are still saving babies and helping mothers after 30 yrs; 6710 and counting. And here we go with another 40 Days for Life campaign. In past years before we learned the truth of just this one racket, we've overseen three campaigns. All we did was pay money to the head of 40 Days. $300.00 for every campaign in every city or country.

You don’t get anything for that $300.00 either. You pay for all signs etc. We made this Shawn Carney rich! Just like donors make the pregnancy centers CEOs rich! You pay their $40,000 -$90,000-dollar salaries if not more. When Mosaic Health was asked for transparency, they fired the board member whose church, O’ Fallon First Baptist, was asking, but not before this fired board member raked in over 20k from her church and monthly support from five additional area churches.

They keep two Catholics on their board so they can get into the "deep pockets" of the Catholic church. They don’t let Catholics counsel women, they just like their money. Again, they do very little to help pregnant women. Small Victories ministry is in Granite City every week, 5 days a week, and during those days of 40 Days for Life, we have seen such disorganization with the local campaign; they leave older prayer warriors there by themselves in all kinds of inclement weather.

You see the leaders for the rallies, that’s all. And they try and take credit for the woman and babies our ministry saves in our medical unit, but deliberately don’t mention our ministry at their rallies or banquets. When we confronted them, ie: Jerry Kapp Sidewalk Advocates leader, admitted it was the “sin of omission," that he took credit for saving over 200 babies when it was our ministry, to the Springfield, Illinois Bishop Paprocki.  40 Days Granite City leader Rose Wascher lied and counted all the babies Small Victories saved as a 40 Days save, and didn’t acknowledge our ministry at 40 Days rallies, etc. https://www.40daysgc.com When we gently confronted her and told her to stop taking our numbers, she fell to the ground and began screaming “demons, demons." So we cut any ties with them.

Recently, I attended a meeting in Granite City to make the leaders aware of some of the flaws with the campaign and that our ministry is not there to babysit when 40 days staffers don’t show up or leave early. I was surprised to see so many pregnancy center heads (Relevant Pregnancy Options, Thrive Metro-East, Mosaic Health, A Beacon for Life) there as only 10 people showed up for this meeting.

But boy did the Kumbaya atmosphere change halfway through their presentation. The 40 days flier said sidewalk advocates and pregnancy centers were there to share their methods of saving babies etc. When we got to that part, the mood changed in the room; you could see the claws come out at the “mean girls” table. The luncheon for lies leader Joan Kane dismissed everyone and thanked them. She then made a beeline for me.

I was sharing our work with a participant and Joan interrupted and attacked me. I was shocked. This was not the “genteel” Joan Kane we see or hear at rallies or these ridiculous luncheons. Looks like she drew the short straw as the mean girl’s table looked on at our exchange. Joan said “You are NOT a part of 40 Days. We don’t want you here."  I knew why they shut this informational meeting down and didn’t want me there. The cash cows couldn’t spread their manure to the audience as usual. Small Victories was in the house.

They knew I would speak up and tell the attendees the truth. I told Joan, “I don’t want to be a part of 40 Days, I’m here to point out the flaws with the local campaign, such as leaving elderly people on those sidewalks with no leaders, in all kinds of inclement weather, with just our ministry to babysit them.” I told her one particular date and to check it out.

Joan Kane then said, “We are affiliated with a national organization, Angela." In other words, we are there for national attention unlike you. That’s typical of these glory hounds. Showboats, and window dressers, seek the compliments of man, not God. Because they don’t know their Bible! And those who know the Bible, are hypocrites; they don’t honor God’s Word. 

They think they can fool and claw their way into heaven. Our ministry is different because we don’t kiss everyone’s backside or conform to their ways. We go against the current, unlike dead fish, who float downstream. One of the best compliments we received was from former Hope Clinic director Sally Burgess who told a news reporter when asked how she felt about our ministry, she answered “They are relentless." That’s what God wants us to be. Not many can go through what we have or do what it takes to save babies, adopt babies and help women as we do.

Most people won’t do what we do. This is why we save so many babies and the mothers appreciate us, unlike the “pro-life profiteers," looking for the next scheme, the next fundraiser, the spotlight.   Sadly, most people would rather believe lies than know the truth. They don’t want to destroy the illusion that is really nothing more than a “money pit."  The Granite City 40 Days campaign stupidly wrote on their site that even the “Pope” endorses 40 Days for Life. This progressive, socialist Pope Francis also gives his blessing to “homosexuality and child mutilation." Evil always finds an excuse, and charlatans are willing to prop evil up to continue their “cash-cow” dynasty.
