As if the sweltering triple digit heat was not bad enough this day, she had to thrust her swollen belly out for us to see that she was late-term. It was midnight abortions and the devil was having a heyday. However, the tipping point was when we viewed not one, but two green and white, JESUS bumper stickers on the getaway car of this mother parked right in front of our mission. Understandably, there is a furnace of affliction when you follow hard after Christ and persevere, but come on, REALLY? We couldn’t believe our eyes as this mother walked up to the entrance of the slaughterhouse. We softly offered to help her with other options and resources; she just ignored our pleas and held onto her bag of fast-food. Little did she know that once consumed, that food would be lying on her feet in another hour or so. The guard stopped her and told her she couldn’t take the food inside. She turned and came back to the car with her accomplice.
We tried offering some literature, and Helen asked if she changed her mind. “Oh, hell no!” she replied and sat on the passenger side, beginning to munch her food. She rolled the window down and watched us look in dismay at the sight of Jesus parked at the abortion mill. This mother kept holding her half eaten whopper out her window and offering us a bite. After the third try I declined and told her, “No thank you, I’m watching my figure.” She then made a derogatory remark, and I felt the blood rush up the back of my neck. That’s it. I turned to her and said, “TAKE THAT BUMPER STICKER OFF YOUR CAR.” She laughed. I went on, “Do you think God is blind? Do you think He doesn’t see what you are about to do and how you are living your life? You must be more afraid of someone stealing this hunk of junk than you are of God’s judgment and His wrath with what you are about to do to His child.” She just stared with a smile on her face.
This is what our ministry has had to contend with lately. This is an example of that “sloppy agape” church I have written about. You know, the “easy, greasy, cheap grace” that the American church thinks can save them when they go before the throne of God on Judgment Day. I’ve grown tired of witnessing the lackadaisical attitude coming from most churches and their pastors. This is what we are dealing with outside the abortion mill in Granite City. We have so-called Christians going inside to kill their babies, and we have abortion mill employees calling themselves Christians, killing babies. It’s sickening. But this is the condition of most churches nowadays. I wish we had pastors and churches of godly character that had some guts to stand up to the sin sitting in their pews. I wish there were some men of God who got as mad as heck at the sight of a Jesus bumper sticker at the abortion mill; Because this “sloppy agape” is not cutting it.
I told the women sitting in the car that we should not be surprised with all the killings going down over in St. Louis when killings are going down at this abortion mill. “Only God can give life, and only God can take life,” I told them. The pregnant passenger screamed, “Don’t be judging us!” I asked her, “Is that the only scripture you know? Do you remember this one? Thou shall not kill.” Both women started screaming at me. I went on, “Aren’t you judging your baby? What did he do?” She screamed, “Where is abortion in the Bible?” I said, “Haven’t you read that God hates the shedding of innocent blood? It is mentioned throughout the Bible. Your baby is innocent. It is his or her blood that will be shed inside that abortion mill,” Now you done it. Both women got out of the car; the driver came at us, but stopped short of the curb just screaming at us for being racist of all things, etc. “Really, because we tell you the truth?” Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.
Listen, make no mistake about it, we are fighting a war; however it is God’s war. He just asks us to show up for the battle. Today was a battle of evil vs. good. We were looking into the eyes of the devil. He had complete control of these women we were confronting this day. I told the pregnant woman, “This is not a game; this is serious stuff. Someone has got to get your attention before it’s too late.” She then screamed several times, “Are you a pastor? Are you a pastor?” I went on telling her that there is a real heaven and a real hell. “We are fighting a real devil and we serve a real God. What is at stake is life and death. The Bible says if you ‘resist the devil he will flee.’ We are offering you this opportunity today.” Unfortunately, after walking away from their car, they sat there a few more minutes and then slowly walked inside, but not without hearing the TRUTH! Probably more than they’ve heard in a year’s full of Sunday church services. That’s the shame in this entire encounter. God’s people, or any people for that matter, have no shame anymore. Most have been handed over to a reprobate mind. And, as they walked inside, they told us to, “Just keep praying for us,” mocking our efforts and prayers. Proverbs 30:20 “This is the way of the adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’”
God have mercy!
“The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, ‘Destroy!’” Deuteronomy 33:27
